Employment & Industrial Relations

Our firm is well versed in prosecution of labour related cases on behalf of both employers and employees and, when handling such cases, strives to achieve the best possible outcome for the client.

Without a doubt, an organization’s most valuable asset is its people – the human resource. Our firm has an in-depth understanding in both local and international labour laws, principles and practices. By understanding the regulatory context, internal ramifications and the sensitivities that come along, we strive to help our clients achieve industrial peace.

Our firm adopts an innovative approach to employment law by crafting solutions that ensure employers adopt the best systems to promote employee effectiveness and efficiency thus reducing risk. This includes advising on appropriate employee terms during the preparation of employee contracts. It also includes advising during labour negotiations between employers, staff and unions on wage negotiations; during the implementation of redundancies; or on employee termination.

In addition, we advise employers on the development of appropriate human resource policies and procedures compliant with Kenyan labour laws, and assist clients in the establishment and operation of retirement benefits schemes set up by employers or by licensed umbrella pension schemes.

We appreciate that employee relations will sometimes have strife. Nevertheless, our firm has extensive experience in handling of employment disputes before industrial tribunals, arbitral tribunals and courts. Our firm is therefore well versed in prosecution of labour related cases on behalf of both employers and employees and, when handling such cases, strives to achieve the best possible outcome for the client.
